Heavy Rotation: sending off the year with a heavy playlist
2 hours is a lot of tunes but I haven’t posted one of these in awhile and there’s been so much to check out lately. Its not a surprise but this playlist covers a lot of ground: new punk and hardcore bands from people who I’ll always check out like Current/Ottawa frontman Matthias Weeks’ band Wrong War (doing an early 80s Dischord thing) and Ian from Kowloon Walled City’s new Wipers-inpsired outfit Strangelight; new releases from some of my favorites: Portrayal of Guilt, Night Goat, Trvss, The Bug, Merzbow, BENNY The Butcher and motherfucking Rob Sonic; and then there’sstuff that I wasn’t up on like Russell Haswell’s debut LP from 2000 or actual noise-rockers Sightings 2013 album “Terribly Well” and a bunch more. Enjoy and hit me up on IG if you make a new discovery.
