A ton of good new noise rock and hardcore from The Poison Arrows, the mighty Coilguns, Bummer, Tunic, Cloakroom and Demons along with new instrumental stuff by Tyondai Braxton, Coilguns side-project Closet Disco Queen and DJ Abilities. And ending with a new discovery for me — the transcendant and eccentric black-ish metal of Gaahs WYRD.
MOSTLY NEW TUNES FROM DJ MUGGS, CASPA, LASSE MARHUAG, DEMONS, TECH LEVEL 2 AND BENNY THE BUTCHER. PLUS ONE OF THE BEST PJ HARVEY SONGS EVER IN ITS DEMO STATE.
2 hours is a lot of tunes but I haven’t posted one of these in awhile and there’s been so much to check out lately. Its not a surprise but this playlist covers a lot of ground: new punk and hardcore bands from people who I’ll always check out like Current/Ottawa frontman Matthias Weeks’ band Wrong War (doing an early 80s Dischord thing) and Ian from Kowloon Walled City’s new Wipers-inpsired outfit Strangelight; new releases from some of my favorites: Portrayal of Guilt, Night Goat, Trvss, The Bug, Merzbow, BENNY The Butcher and motherfucking Rob Sonic; and stuff that I wasn’t up on like Russell Haswell’s debut LP from 2000 or actual noise-rockers Sightings 2013 album “Terribly Well”.
This one goes from soft as an overripe avocado to hard as something that is really hard. Also I really fucks with this Miley Cyrus tune, UK metalcore kids Employed To Serve have gone rock and it rules and, dear lord, Lil Wayne has still got it. Like really got it. Plus Facialmess, John Wiese, Demdike Stare and some stuff I that might actually be embarrassed to like.
Some perfect pop songs from the new Katie Perry album and a whole bunch of harshness from Sissy Spacek and Merzbow.
Heavy on the hip-hop with new Big Ghost Ltd, Conway The Machine, and Muja Messiah and vintage ragga-jungle from the early-00’s Shockout Records era (Kid 606, The Bug, Daddy Freddy, Wayne Lonesome) and a lot more.
