“Marzipan EP” — 2 songs of sleaze and melody from Maniak Cop

A recent trend: bands follow the Instagram account of my design company @themvastudio and they turn out to be rad (note: this has yet to happen with a rapper). First it was Fashion Week (don’t worry, we’ll get to them soon enough), now Maniak Cop.

Unlike a lot of the stuff that I call “noise rock” which is really better described as “Jesus Lizard-core” the 2 songs on Marzipan (which is actually their side of a split with Grizzlor released back in 2014) are actual punk rock drenched in noise: distortion on the vocals, constant crashes, and layers of sound. I’m not the kind of dude to go on about melodies but I gotta say that each time I listen to this I have to throw it on one more time.
